Born Among the Gentle

ree

As Christmas draws near, we remember that hope entered the world quietly.

Jesus was not born in a palace or a temple, but in a stable—surrounded by hay, warmth, and gentle animals. They asked nothing. They offered shelter, presence, and peace. In their quiet way, they shared sacred space.

This choice matters.

It teaches us that humility is holy, that gentleness holds great power, and that worth is not found in status, but in presence. Animals live this truth instinctively. They take only what they need, respond honestly to the world, and soften when met with patience and care.

At Pleasant Pasture, we see this every day. Animals who have known fear and hardship begin to heal when they are given safety instead of force, time instead of expectation, kindness instead of control. Their transformation reminds us that gentleness is not weakness—it is healing.

The Christmas story invites us to reflect: How do we treat the vulnerable?

How do we share space with those who cannot speak for themselves?

How do we live when no one is watching?

To value animals is to practice reverence for life itself. They teach us to slow down, to listen, to notice, and to love without condition—values Christ modeled from the very beginning.

Hope arrived quietly, wrapped in humility.

It arrived in a stable.

And the animals were already there.

May this season call us back to gentleness, compassion, and care—for one another, and for all living beings.

Merry Christmas 🤍 Katherine, Farmer Terry & ALL the Creatures
