When the Air Turns Crisp at Pleasant Pasture 🍂🐮🐱

As Wisconsin’s air turns crisp and daylight shortens, the Sanctuary begins its cozy transformation. The big pasture is now closed for winter, keeping the cattle close to the barn where the wind can’t reach them. Truckloads of sweet hay roll in weekly, and the sound of steady chewing fills the frosty air.
Fresh straw blankets every pig hut, piled high for burrowing and warmth. Inside the barn, more cats are settling in—curled on hay bales or tucked into the heated cat houses we’ve plugged in around the property. The barn doors stay snugly shut, holding in the calm and comfort.
And of course, the cats add a bit of winter mischief.
Just this morning, Bill —our bold orange barn cat—decided the heated water dish was the perfect paw warmer. One curious dip turned into a splash, and now we have one damp but very pleased feline strutting around like he’s discovered indoor plumbing.
It’s a tender, peaceful season here. Each bale of hay, each hum of warmth, is a promise that every animal is safe, loved, and a little bit spoiled.
💚 Help us keep the Sanctuary cozy this winter — sponsor a bale, a meal, or a heated haven today!
