A Summer of Second Chances at Pleasant Pasture

Summer at Pleasant Pasture can look wonderfully peaceful.

Cattle grazing. Cats sleeping in the sunshine. Pigs snoozing away an afternoon.

But behind those quiet scenes, something else is always happening.

Animals are finding their way home.

During the first half of this year, three new cats became permanent Pleasant Pasture residents. Meanwhile, through our rehoming assistance and connections, 12 roosters, two horses, a disabled heifer, a duck family, and 13 cats were helped toward new homes and brighter futures.

Yes, 13 cats!

Some people consider 13 an unlucky number.

Around here, we think 13 cats finding homes sounds pretty lucky.

And these numbers tell an important part of the Pleasant Pasture story.

We intentionally remain a small sanctuary. We simply cannot bring every animal who needs help through our gates.

But that doesn't mean we can't help.

Sometimes rescue means welcoming an animal here for life. Sometimes it means making phone calls, sharing resources, connecting people, or helping someone find the right home for an animal we may never even meet.

Each one matters.

So as summer begins to fade and another beautiful Wisconsin fall approaches, we're feeling especially grateful—for the animals now safely settled, for the people who opened their homes, and for all of you who make this quiet work possible.

Because sometimes changing an animal's life doesn't require giving them a home at Pleasant Pasture. It simply requires helping them find the home that was waiting for them. Thank YOU for helping animals find their way home.
