Two Hogs, One Bed, and a Lifetime of Friendship

Every fall, a familiar disagreement takes place inside the hog hut at Pleasant Pasture.
Barley believes fresh straw should be arranged with great care. Buster believes fresh straw should be immediately slept on.
Neither is particularly interested in compromise.
Barley pushes, fluffs, and rearranges the bedding into what he considers a masterpiece. Buster wanders in, plops himself in the middle, and promptly ruins everything.
And yet, when the temperatures drop, these two enormous hogs somehow manage to squeeze together into one cozy pile of straw.
At 500–600 pounds each, personal space is apparently overrated.
Their friendship reminds us of something simple but beautiful. Animals form bonds, develop routines, and find comfort in familiar companions, just as we do.
At Pleasant Pasture, sanctuary means more than food and shelter. It means having the freedom to live, to belong, and to grow old beside those you love.
Even if they hog the bed. ❤️ Show Buster & Barley some love - Donate Now!
