Do Animals Feel Thankful? A Thanksgiving Reflection from the Pasture

As Thanksgiving approaches, we've been wondering: Are the animals at Pleasant Pasture thankful to be here?
We can't ask them directly, of course. But if we could, we imagine their answers might sound something like this.
Barley the Hog: "I'm thankful for warm straw, delicious meals, and my brother Buster. Although I'd be even more thankful if he'd stop sleeping on top of me."
Warren the Warrior: "I'm thankful for wide-open spaces, fresh hay, and a herd to call my own. I could do without the cats using me as a heated mattress. But I suppose they're family, too."
Gentle Mike the Cat: "I'm thankful for warm places to sleep, gentle hands that pet me, and knowing I'll always have a home. Oh, and Warren. He's surprisingly comfortable."
Do animals experience gratitude the way humans do? We may never know.
But we see their contentment in quiet moments, their friendships, and the trust they've learned to place in us.
And perhaps that's gratitude enough.
This Thanksgiving, we're thankful they are here. And we hope, in their own way, they are too. ❤️
