Life in the cat colony is anything but boring.
The day starts earlyâusually with a scuffle over the warmest hay pile or an unprovoked swat from the high priestess of drama herself, Speck.
By mid-morning, the crew splits into factions: sunbathers, hunters (read: chasing leaves and occasionally their own tails), and âindoor inspectors,â who like to sneak into the barn supply corner and nap on the hog chow.
Lunchtime involves a lot of theatrics. Some pretend they havenât been fed since last October. Others try to sneak seconds from their neighbors. By afternoon, it's full nap modeâpaws in the air, chins on hay bales, tails twitching through dreams of mice and mischief.
But evening? Thatâs when the magic happens.
As the sun dips low, they gather near the porch steps, blinking slow and wise in the golden light. Some groom each other. Some stretch into yoga poses only cats can achieve. And just before dusk, youâll find them curled together in quiet communionâpurring, snuggling, safe.
No matter the squabbles of the day, the colony always ends together. A reminder that even the wildest hearts long for connection.
