What Happens When We Can't Say Yes?

Some of the most important animals Pleasant Pasture helps will never live here.
Throughout the year, messages arrive from people trying desperately to find a safe place for an animal.
A rooster who can no longer stay. Cats needing homes. A horse whose circumstances have changed. A farm animal whose future has suddenly become uncertain.
We wish we could say yes to every one.
We can't.
Sanctuary means making a lifelong promise to every animal who comes through our gate. Staying intentionally small allows us to keep that promise, but it also means there are limits to how many animals can call Pleasant Pasture home.
So when the answer is “we can't take them,” we try not to let that be the end of the conversation.
We listen. We share resources. We suggest other organizations. We help people think through possibilities. And sometimes, those conversations lead to a completely different safe home.
This work happens quietly, usually through emails and messages that most of our supporters will never see.
But we believe rescue isn't defined by where an animal eventually lives.
Sometimes compassion means opening your gate.
Sometimes it means helping someone find another one.
Both can change a life.
So can you! Donate now.
