At just 7½ weeks old, Marlboro and Gus Gus already have a story that speaks volumes about resilience, love, and the power of community. Born into a large litter, their start in life was marked by tragedy—when their mother unexpectedly passed away, their siblings were tragically crushed. These tiny piglets were only two days old when a kind-hearted family stepped in to change their fate.
The farmer, unable to provide care, had planned to destroy them. But love intervened.
This compassionate family—though unfamiliar with piglet care—quickly became students of piglet parenting. They researched, learned, and gave their all, lovingly feeding Marlboro and Gus Gus around the clock. There were sleepless nights, messy floors, and constant worry—but there was also joy, laughter, and the satisfaction of watching two tiny lives begin to thrive.

By the time the piglets turned four weeks old, it became clear that their growing size and energy would soon be too much for a home environment. That’s when the family, with full hearts and tearful eyes, brought them to Pleasant Pasture—knowing they were giving them the chance to grow up safe, free, and loved.
Now, at the Sanctuary, Marlboro and Gus Gus are absolutely blossoming. They're eating like champs, exploring their surroundings with curiosity, and forming a sweet sibling bond that is equal parts cuddles and playful chaos. Their personalities are beginning to shine—Marlboro is the more cautious of the two, while Gus Gus barrels headfirst into every new adventure.
What started as heartbreak has become a celebration of what’s possible when compassion leads the way. These two little boys are living proof that love saves lives—and that sometimes, the gentlest hands are the strongest.
