What Cats Can Teach Us About Community

At Pleasant Pasture, our cat family is a world of personalities. Some are bold explorers, leaping to the highest hay bales; others are quiet watchers, content to nap in a sunbeam.
Cally, the shy one, often tucks herself into hidden corners, keeping a gentle distance until she feels safe.
George, once a family house cat, prefers to dine alone, savoring his meals with quiet dignity before joining the group again.
Of course, with so many unique spirits under one roof, spats happen. Sometimes we see cats take sides, just like people do.
But what’s remarkable is how quickly the tension fades. A shared meal, a patch of warmth in the barn, or a mouse to watch is enough to bring them back together.
The cats remind us that harmony doesn’t mean sameness. It means allowing differences, forgiving quickly, and remembering the bonds that matter most.
