When the Wild Ones Come to Stay

Life at Pleasant Pasture doesn’t belong only to the animals who live here permanently. The sanctuary has quietly become a refuge for the wild ones as well.
Over the years we’ve noticed that wildlife seems to recognize something special about this land. Deer wander through the pasture with surprising comfort, sometimes passing within a few feet of the cattle as they make their way from one field to another. It’s a peaceful scene that reminds us how connected all living things truly are.
Birds fill the trees in every season, rabbits dart between the grasses, and occasionally we discover signs that nighttime visitors have passed through under the cover of darkness. A set of paw prints in the snow or a quiet rustle in the woods tells us that even creatures we rarely see have found their way here.
Perhaps the most touching moments come when wildlife chooses to raise their young nearby. One spring morning, a mother deer carefully led her tiny fawn across the pasture, pausing only briefly as the cattle looked on calmly. It felt like a quiet vote of confidence—that this place is safe enough for new life.
We like to believe that the sanctuary sends out a message that animals can feel: you are welcome here, you are safe here.
If you’d like to help protect this peaceful corner of the world—for the rescued animals and the wild visitors alike—please consider supporting Pleasant Pasture. Your generosity helps us continue caring for the land and every creature who calls it home.
