Willy’s World: Growing Up with Zoomies, Aunties, and a Whole Lot of Love

ree

It’s been just over a month since baby Willy wobbled into the world—hooves first, wide-eyed, and full of promise. And oh, how he’s grown.

From the very beginning, Willy has had that special spark—the kind of energy that bounces before it walks, giggles before it moos, and wraps itself around your heart before you even realize what’s happening.

These days, he’s living his very best calf life, surrounded by the most perfect trio of caretakers: his brave, attentive mama Shasta and his two doting “aunties,” who treat him like he’s the crown jewel of the pasture (which, let’s be honest, he absolutely is).

Willy has mastered the art of the zoomie. We’re talking full-speed, joyful, ridiculous loops around the pasture—tail high, tongue out, eyes sparkling with mischief. He’s discovered the joy of hay, the thrill of chasing butterflies, and the hilarious sport of surprising unsuspecting cats who dare enter his field. (Don’t worry, the cats are unfazed. Slightly annoyed, maybe, but unfazed.)

He’s growing stronger every day, testing out his new legs with bounces and hops and mock head-butts that have absolutely no force behind them—but a whole lot of attitude. He watches the big steers from a distance, mimicking their movements, and has even started trying to “graze,” though most of what he chews ends up stuck to his fuzzy chin.

Shasta remains calm and loving, always nearby, always watching. She’s still learning, too—but motherhood looks good on her. The two of them are often found curled together in the shade, nose to nose, their breathing in sync like a quiet lullaby of trust and safety.

Willy’s life is exactly what we dream of offering every animal who comes to Pleasant Pasture: a chance to grow up safe, seen, and deeply loved. No fear. No hunger. No harm. Just green grass, warm sun, and the freedom to explore a world that welcomes him.

And all of this—every zoomie, every nuzzle, every heart-melting moment—is because of you.

Thank you for being part of his story. We’ll keep sharing it with you as he grows, because this little guy has a whole lot of living (and mischief) ahead. Adopt Willy and receive monthly updates with photo - adopt love!
