Mr. Buttons Says Hello: Life, Love & Fall Days

Magnetic Mr. Buttons
Magnetic Mr. Buttons

We’ve been hearing from quite a few of you lately: “How’s Mr. Buttons doing?” It’s true—Warren the Warrior Steer has been getting a fair bit of the spotlight lately, and rightly so. But we know Mr. Buttons has a loyal fan base of his own, and we’re so happy to share a little update on this irresistible gentleman.

Mr. Buttons, our soft-eyed, sweet-natured “ladies’ man” steer, is doing wonderfully. He’s healthy, happy, and absolutely thriving here at the sanctuary. Fall is his season—he spends most of his days stretched out under the shade trees, watching the wind ripple through the pasture and gently bossing around his herd-mates (with all the charm in the world, of course).

Lately, he’s taken quite a liking to our new hay delivery driver, who swears Buttons flutters his eyelashes on purpose. And honestly, we believe it. He’s a natural flirt—with humans, with the cows, even with the birds that perch on the fence nearby. There’s just something magnetic about him.

What’s most special about Mr. Buttons, though, is his heart. He’s deeply bonded with his fellow pasture mates—especially Moo Puppy and Karl. There’s an unspoken language between them, a kind of kinship only survivors share. Every evening, you’ll find Buttons resting side by side with his crew, their bellies full and their spirits calm, safe in a world that once offered them none of that.

His presence is a daily reminder that animals don’t just survive when given the chance—they flourish. They connect. They remember kindness. And they give it back tenfold.

So yes, Warren may be the fierce guardian of the pasture, but Mr. Buttons is its beating heart—soft, steady, and full of joy. Thank you for loving him as much as we do. Mr. Buttons would LOVE for you to sponsor him :)
